How to find non toxic paints for you home.
Buying the right paint is important. You don’t want to breathe in toxins 24/7 in your own home.In the past I have used SafeCoat which I think is one of the top paints. I could not smell anything when I painted my house and that was back when I was very chemically sensitive. However, even on SafeCoat there is a warning for chemically sensitive people. The paint doesn’t have the preservatives of regular paint and will dry up and go bad with in a year of opening. I am going to try this paint Mythic, it seems to have very good standards. I will report back next week. Claims to be nontoxic, although I have heard that before!I would rather pay $20 more per gallon than breathe in toxic VOCs and fungicides for the next 3 years while it off gasses.LOW VOC is better than high VOC, but I wouldn’t use it. NO VOC paints can be quite toxic as well with preservatives and fungicides. My ECO store stopped selling paint, but they are extremely hard core environmentalists and sold SafeCoat. She suggested ECOs paint.Below is info I got from the internet, so do a little investigation and phone calling before buying any paint. Green~washing is out of control and even fake articles are being posted online by toxic companies.PLEASE send me your experience and information that you have about paint companies. I will update this list with more specific information! ~thanks
