Making sure you get good nutrition is required in order for your body’s detoxification system to perform at its best. Sometimes this requires supplements as a body that isn’t detoxing properly probably has gut issues that interfere with vitamin and mineral absorption. Or visa-versa. This is a ‘which came first the chicken or the egg’ situation, and also explains why we can become so ill so fast.
Almost everyone with a chronic illness, like MCS, has problems with assimilating nutrients through digestion. The immune system is located in the gut and poor gut health is often a root cause of illness. Most have what is called “leaky gut” syndrome. This is a problem with the gut lining that can be caused by stress, toxins, GMOs, viruses, microbes etc. The nutrients leak through the gut lining and are not assimilated and used for nutrition in the body.
When I became ill with MCS I thought I had great digestion. I ate plenty of organic vegetables and fruits and did not have any complaints, bloating or issues. Even though I had a great diet and seemly great digestion, by body was malnourished. I realized at some point during my healing process that often I had a knot in my stomach from being extra sensitive to other people’s stress. I didn’t this realize at the time, I had never even noticed the knot. I am sure that was a great contributor to my MCS illness.
When I was really sick I was taking a lot of supplements. I think there are times you must bombard your system with nutrients. I was on high doses of Vitamin C, Glutathione, numerous others, and various herbs. The better I felt, the more I relied on super foods and fresh organic and grass fed foods for nutrition. Superfoods (foods loaded with nutrition) like chia seeds, pomegranate and natural herbs have hundreds of properties that are being discovered daily, many of which are synergistic and help with assimilation of the nutrients. I think this is the best way to get nutrients and why juicing is so helpful for healing.
I could never carry out a sustained juicing program so I used many supplements. To see what I was using http://detoxthebodymcs.com/shop/.
I never liked taking pills, so I used a lot of tinctures, liquids, baths and powders. It turns out this was to my advantage. When one is not digesting food properly, nutrients in supplements are not absorbed by the gut lining.
Sub-lingual absorption and absorption through the skin are the best ways to get nutrition into the blood. Epsom salts baths and other mineral and detox baths are great. I love this clay bath! http://www.miracleclay.net/magento/health-care/energy-powder-calcium-montmorillonite-12-oz.html/?acc=c81e728d9d4c2f636f067f89cc14862c The magic is that you bypass the digestive system and the nutrition goes right into skin to the blood stream.
Under the tongue is the fastest way to absorb nutrients. Lots of supplements and tinctures that are not specifically “sub-lingual” can be taken as such. In fact, most supplements which are sold as ‘sub-lingual’ have added sugars and flavors which are unnecessary. Most supplements have almost no taste at all. I often get capsules or tablets and open them up, put them under the tongue.
Here is a list of a few supplements that have no taste. You are actually get the most out of your supplements this way, even if your digestion is not challenged. Stomach acids do dissolve a certain portion of all supplements.
Vitamin D, DHEA, Glutathione, Glycine, Melatonin, Dolomite & other calcium and magnesium supplements, tinctures etc. There are lots more, just taste the supplements you are taking to find out. You can brush your teeth or swish with baking soda if you want to make sure there is no damage to your teeth from acids or whatnot. I dont think its a danger, but I did damage my teeth with massive amounts of vitamin C powder a few years ago. Baking soda will always neutralize that.
